INFORMATION ON COOKIES

The modification of the law of Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (ISSECL) at the RD 13/2012 dictates obtaining the explicit consent of the user of unnecessary cookies previous him or her navigation around the web page.

WHAT COOKIES ARE?

Cookies and other similar technologies like local shared objects, flash cookies or pixels, are tools used by web servers to collect and store information from their visitors and to offer a proper operation of the web page.

By means of these tools, the web server reminds some data from the user, for example preferred layout, names, keywords, interested products or services, etc.

REGULATED AND NON-REGULATED COOKIES

The EU Regulations dictate that analytical, advertising and affiliation cookies need explicit consent from the user, while technical and operating cookies, also those related to specific services request by user, are exempt from this consent.

TYPES OF COOKIES

  • Analytical: collect information about the use of the web
  • Social: needed in external social nets
  • Affiliation: follow visits from other webs that the web page has an affiliation contract
  • Advertising and behaviour: collect information about personal preferences of the user (retargeting)
  • Technical and operating: strictly necessary for the proper operation of the web and the provision of any requested service

COOKIES USED IN THIS WEB PAGE

  • PHPSESSID: technical cookie strictly necessary that contains the session identity; it erases when navigator is turned off.
  • _ga: cookie from Google Analytics, that controls unique visits. The first time a user visits the web, this cookie will be installed. Once the user visits again the web with the same navigator, the cookie understands that is the same user, while will understand that is another in case the navigator would be different. It expires in 2 years from last visit.

  2. Click on configuration
  3. Click on Advanced Options
  4. In section “Privacy” click on Content Configuration
    • Erase cookies: click on All Cookies and web data…
    • Do not allow store cookies
  1. Click on Erase navigation data (empty Cache)
  2. Close and reinitiate navigator

  1. Select Tools | Internet Options
  2. Click on General
  3. Section “Exploration History”, click on Erase exploration history when exit
  4. Select Erase archives
  5. Select Erase cookies
  6. Click on Erase
  7. Click on Accept
  8. Close and reinitiate the navigator

  1. Select Firefox | History | Clean recent history
  2. Next to “Details”, click on down arrow
  3. Select following boxes: Cookies, Cache, active logins
  4. By using “time interval to erase” in the menu, select All
  5. Click on Erase now
  6. Close and reinitiate the navigator

Cookies can be selected individually in preferences, in the section History of Tools > Options > Privacy.
